hi. i’m anne.

I’m a PhD student in the Sociology department at Yale University, whereI specialize in religion and culture. I’m interested in how people organize their lives by a sense of meaning and belief, especially charismatic beliefs.

When I’m not studying, you can find me training at my CrossFit gym, traveling, or renovating my 118-year-old Victorian home in New Haven.

It’s nice to meet you!

my victorian home

I bought a 116-year-old Victorian house in New Haven, and in my spare, non-PhD time, I have slowly been renovating it Fixer Upper-style with my husband. Folks, no matter what it looks like on a 30-minute long TV show, this ain’t no small feat. Renovations do not take 30 minutes.

For the ups and downs, construction issues and design tips, read more about my hobby-turned-expensive-obsession on The Journal.

charisma & religion

My current research is on social performance and the charismatic religious experiences of radical lay people during the first Great Awakening in British North America.
